Abstract
This thesis examines the impact of sustainable farming practices on rural household incomes, with a focus on enhancing economic opportunities and livelihoods in rural communities. Sustainable farming practices are increasingly recognized as essential for promoting environmental sustainability, economic development, and social well-being. This study explores how the adoption of sustainable farming practices can contribute to increasing rural household incomes and improving overall quality of life. The research is guided by a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of household income data with qualitative investigation into the factors influencing the adoption of sustainable farming practices. Through survey questionnaires and in-depth interviews with rural households, farmers, and agricultural experts, this study aims to identify the key determinants of sustainable farming practices and their impact on household incomes. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review on sustainable farming practices, rural household incomes, and the linkages between agriculture, environment, and economic development. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including the research design, sampling techniques, data collection methods, and data analysis procedures. The chapter also discusses ethical considerations and potential limitations of the study. Chapter Four presents the findings of the research, analyzing the impact of sustainable farming practices on rural household incomes and identifying the main factors influencing the adoption of these practices. The results indicate that sustainable farming practices can lead to increased productivity, higher incomes, and improved livelihoods for rural households.
