Colonialism has had a profound and lasting impact on indigenous cultures around the world, particularly in Africa. This thesis investigates the effects of British and French colonization on indigenous cultures in Africa, with a comparative analysis to understand the similarities and differences in their approaches and consequences. The study aims to provide a comprehensive examination of how colonialism reshaped social structures, cultural practices, and identity among indigenous populations. The research begins with an exploration of the historical background of British and French colonization in Africa, highlighting key events and policies that shaped the colonial experience for indigenous communities. By examining primary and secondary sources, the study delves into the complexities of colonial rule, including economic exploitation, political domination, and cultural assimilation efforts imposed by the British and French colonial administrations. Through a critical analysis of the literature, this thesis identifies the various challenges and opportunities faced by indigenous cultures under colonial rule.
