Abstract
Colonialism has left a profound impact on indigenous cultures across the globe, particularly in Africa and Asia. This comparative study delves into the historical effects of colonial rule on the cultural identities, traditions, and socio-political structures of indigenous communities in these regions. Through a meticulous analysis of primary and secondary sources, this research aims to shed light on the lasting repercussions of colonialism on the indigenous populations of Africa and Asia. The introduction provides a comprehensive overview of the study, outlining the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and the structure of the thesis. The literature review in Chapter Two critically examines ten key sources related to colonialism, indigenous cultures, and comparative studies in Africa and Asia. The analysis of these sources forms the foundation for understanding the complexities of the colonial legacy on indigenous societies. Chapter Three focuses on the research methodology employed in this study, detailing the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and the limitations of the research methodology. This chapter aims to ensure the rigor and validity of the findings presented in the subsequent chapters. In Chapter Four, the discussion of findings provides an in-depth exploration of the impacts of colonialism on indigenous cultures in Africa and Asia. By comparing and contrasting the experiences of these two regions, this chapter highlights the diverse ways in which colonial policies and practices have shaped the cultural landscapes of indigenous communities. The findings reveal the multifaceted nature of colonial legacies, ranging from language loss and cultural assimilation to resistance movements and cultural revitalization efforts. Finally, Chapter Five offers a comprehensive conclusion and summary of the project thesis.
