Abstract
Colonialism has left a lasting impact on the indigenous cultures of various nations across the globe. This study delves into the repercussions of colonial rule on the traditional cultures of Nigeria and India, offering a comparative analysis of the two countries. By examining the historical background of colonialism in both regions, the study seeks to uncover how colonial powers influenced and altered the cultural identities of the indigenous populations. The research explores the problem statement of how colonialism disrupted and transformed the social structures, belief systems, languages, and practices of the indigenous peoples in Nigeria and India. Through a comprehensive literature review, the study highlights the existing scholarship on the subject, identifying key themes and perspectives that have shaped the discourse on colonial impact on indigenous cultures. Methodologically, this research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a combination of archival research, interviews, and comparative analysis to gather data and insights. The research methodology section outlines the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and analytical framework employed in this study.
