Abstract
This thesis explores the impact of colonialism on cultural identity in post-colonial African societies. The study delves into the historical context of colonial rule in Africa and its lasting effects on the cultural identities of African communities. Through a comprehensive literature review, the thesis examines the ways in which colonial powers imposed their values, languages, religions, and social structures on African societies, leading to shifts in cultural norms and identities. The research methodology involves a combination of qualitative data analysis, interviews, and case studies to provide a nuanced understanding of the complexities of cultural identity in post-colonial Africa. Chapter One provides an introduction to the topic, outlining the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms.
