Thesis Abstract

Abstract
This thesis examines the impact of mindfulness-based interventions on stress and anxiety levels among college students through a randomized controlled trial. Stress and anxiety are prevalent among college students and can have detrimental effects on their academic performance, mental health, and overall well-being. Mindfulness-based interventions, which involve techniques to increase awareness and acceptance of present-moment experiences, have shown promise in reducing stress and anxiety in various populations. However, there is a need to explore the specific effects of these interventions on college students. The study will involve a randomized controlled trial where college students will be randomly assigned to either a mindfulness-based intervention group or a control group. The intervention group will participate in a structured mindfulness program, which may include mindfulness meditation, mindful breathing exercises, and mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques. The control group will receive no intervention or will participate in a non-mindfulness-based activity to control for the effects of time and attention. Data will be collected through self-report measures, such as validated questionnaires assessing stress levels, anxiety symptoms, mindfulness skills, and well-being.
