Thesis Abstract
<p> </p><p>Electromagnetic Distance Measurement (EDM) equipment is calibrated on a base to determine <br>instrument constants and errors. A series of measurements on a base can also be used to check <br>the performance and reliability of the instrument over time and to assess its precision against <br>the manufacturer's specifications. This research work, the establishment of Electromagnetic <br>Distance Measurement (EDM) calibration base entails the setting up of a functional base where <br>calibration of electromagnetic distance measurement (EDM) equipment can be carried out <br>within the institution. Two (2) monuments were re-established; including the existing three (3) <br>making it a total of five (5) monuments and subdivided into four bays and subsequently carried <br>out distance observations. Consequently, the measured distances for each of the bays were <br>entered into the Least Squares Method of Adjustment using the Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB) <br>and its instrument constant obtained.<br></p><br> <br><p></p>Thesis Overview
