**Abstract
** Urban areas are known to experience higher temperatures compared to their rural surroundings, a phenomenon known as Urban Heat Islands (UHIs). The impact of UHIs on urban environments, human health, and energy consumption is of growing concern. This thesis aims to analyze and understand the characteristics of UHIs in a Metropolitan Area, with a focus on identifying factors contributing to their formation and exploring potential mitigation strategies. The study begins with an introduction outlining the significance of UHIs and their implications for urban sustainability. A comprehensive review of existing literature on UHIs is conducted to provide a theoretical framework for the research. The literature review covers topics such as the causes of UHIs, their effects on urban climate, and strategies for reducing their intensity. The research methodology section details the approach taken to analyze UHIs in the Metropolitan Area. This includes data collection methods, analysis techniques, and the tools utilized to study temperature variations within the urban environment. The study incorporates both quantitative data analysis and qualitative assessments to provide a comprehensive understanding of UHIs. Findings from the analysis reveal the spatial distribution of UHIs within the Metropolitan Area, highlighting areas with the highest temperature differentials.
