Abstract
Climate change is a pressing global issue that has profound implications for coastal regions worldwide. This thesis aims to investigate the impact of climate change on coastal erosion patterns in a specific region, with a focus on understanding the underlying mechanisms driving these changes. The study area selected for this research is the coastal region of XYZ, which has been experiencing noticeable changes in its coastline due to various environmental stressors linked to climate change. The research begins with a comprehensive examination of the existing literature on climate change impacts on coastal erosion, providing a theoretical framework for understanding the complex interactions between climate variables and coastal processes. By conducting a detailed literature review, the study identifies key factors contributing to coastal erosion, such as sea-level rise, extreme weather events, and anthropogenic activities. Following the literature review, the research methodology section outlines the data collection methods and analytical techniques employed in this study. Data sources include satellite imagery, GIS mapping, field surveys, and statistical analysis to assess changes in coastal erosion patterns over a specific timeframe. Through a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches, the study aims to provide a holistic understanding of the coastal dynamics in the study area. The findings section presents a detailed analysis of the impact of climate change on coastal erosion patterns in the XYZ region. By comparing historical data with current observations, the study highlights the accelerated rates of erosion and identifies vulnerable areas at high risk of coastal inundation. The results reveal a correlation between climate change indicators, such as rising sea levels and increased storm intensity, and the exacerbation of coastal erosion processes.
