Abstract
This thesis explores the significant impact of social media on mental health awareness and stigma reduction. With the exponential growth of social media platforms, individuals now have unprecedented access to information and resources related to mental health. This study aims to investigate how social media can be utilized as a tool to raise awareness about mental health issues and combat the stigma associated with mental illness. By analyzing existing literature and conducting primary research, the research seeks to provide insights into the various ways in which social media can be leveraged to promote mental health literacy and foster a more supportive and inclusive online community. The first chapter of the thesis sets the foundation for the study by presenting the introduction, background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and structure of the thesis. Chapter two provides a comprehensive literature review, examining ten key studies and articles that highlight the current state of research on the relationship between social media and mental health awareness. Chapter three outlines the research methodology employed in this study, including research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures. This chapter also discusses ethical considerations and limitations encountered during the research process. The fourth chapter presents a detailed discussion of the findings, drawing insights from the data collected and analyzed. This section explores the various ways in which social media platforms can be harnessed to promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma.
