Social media has become an integral part of modern society, with individuals of all ages engaging in various platforms for communication, entertainment, and information sharing. However, the pervasive use of social media has raised concerns about its impact on mental health, particularly across different age groups. This thesis aims to provide a comparative analysis of the impact of social media on mental health among different age cohorts, exploring the potential implications for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. The study begins with an examination of the background context surrounding social media use and mental health, highlighting the increasing prevalence of mental health issues in correlation with the rise of social media platforms. A detailed review of existing literature is conducted to explore the various perspectives, theories, and empirical evidence regarding the relationship between social media usage and mental health outcomes across different age groups. Methodologically, a mixed-methods approach is employed to gather data from diverse sources, including surveys, interviews, and content analysis of social media platforms. The research methodology section outlines the specific procedures and techniques utilized in data collection, sampling strategies, data analysis, and interpretation of findings.
