Abstract
This thesis focuses on the development of a sustainable packaging solution for fresh produce in the food retail industry. The need for sustainable packaging solutions has become increasingly important due to the environmental impact of traditional packaging materials. The research aims to address this issue by proposing and evaluating a sustainable packaging solution that can be effectively implemented in the food retail industry to reduce waste and environmental harm. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research, including the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. The importance of sustainable packaging in the food retail industry is highlighted, setting the stage for the subsequent chapters. Chapter Two consists of a comprehensive literature review focusing on sustainable packaging, food retail industry trends, environmental impact assessments, consumer preferences, and emerging technologies in packaging materials. The review covers ten key areas to provide a thorough understanding of the current state of sustainable packaging solutions in the context of fresh produce.
