Abstract
The issue of plastic pollution in coastal areas has become a significant environmental concern globally. In this study, an in-depth analysis of plastic pollution in a specific coastal location was conducted to assess the extent of the problem and its impact on the environment. The research focused on identifying the types and sources of plastic pollution, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of current waste management practices in mitigating this issue. The study utilized a combination of field surveys, data collection, and analysis techniques to gather relevant information on plastic pollution in the selected coastal area. A thorough literature review was conducted to understand the background and existing knowledge on plastic pollution, waste management strategies, and their implications for coastal ecosystems. The findings revealed that plastic pollution in the coastal area was primarily caused by improper waste disposal, littering, and inadequate recycling facilities. Various types of plastics, including single-use plastics and microplastics, were identified in the environment, posing risks to marine life and ecosystems. The research also highlighted the limitations of existing waste management practices in addressing the growing problem of plastic pollution in coastal areas. Based on the research findings, recommendations were made for enhancing waste management strategies, promoting recycling initiatives, and raising public awareness about the impacts of plastic pollution on coastal environments. The study emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among government agencies, local communities, and environmental organizations to address the challenges posed by plastic pollution effectively. Overall, this thesis provides valuable insights into the complex issue of plastic pollution in coastal areas and offers practical recommendations for sustainable waste management practices and environmental conservation efforts. By raising awareness and taking proactive measures to reduce plastic pollution, we can work towards protecting our coastal ecosystems and preserving the health of our oceans for future generations.
