Thesis Abstract

Abstract
Mitigation of methane emissions from sanitary landfills and sewage treatment plants is a critical environmental concern due to the potent greenhouse gas effects of methane. This research project aims to investigate and propose effective strategies for reducing methane emissions from these sources. The study will focus on analyzing current practices in landfill and sewage treatment plant management, identifying key sources of methane emissions, and evaluating various mitigation technologies and techniques. The research will involve a comprehensive literature review to gather data on methane generation and release mechanisms in sanitary landfills and sewage treatment plants. This information will be used to assess the most significant sources of methane emissions and prioritize areas for mitigation efforts. Additionally, the study will explore the environmental impact of methane emissions and the importance of reducing these emissions to mitigate climate change and improve air quality.
