The preservation and restoration of wetlands have gained significant attention in environmental management due to their crucial role in biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation. This thesis focuses on assessing the effectiveness of wetland restoration efforts in achieving these dual objectives. The study is structured to investigate the impact of wetland restoration on biodiversity conservation and its contribution to climate change mitigation strategies. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. The literature review in Chapter Two examines ten key aspects related to wetland restoration, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, data analysis procedures, ethical considerations, and limitations. Chapter Four discusses the findings of the study in detail, analyzing the effectiveness of wetland restoration projects in enhancing biodiversity and mitigating climate change impacts. The chapter explores the relationship between wetland restoration activities and biodiversity conservation, as well as the role of restored wetlands in sequestering carbon and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
