Plastic pollution has emerged as a significant environmental issue, particularly in marine ecosystems, posing a threat to biodiversity, ecosystem health, and human well-being. This thesis focuses on assessing the impact of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems and proposes strategies for mitigation. The study encompasses a comprehensive review of existing literature, research methodologies, data collection, and analysis to provide valuable insights into the detrimental effects of plastic pollution on marine environments. Through a multidisciplinary approach, this research investigates the sources, distribution, and composition of plastic waste in marine ecosystems, as well as its ecological and socio-economic consequences. The literature review section critically examines previous studies on plastic pollution in marine environments, highlighting the current knowledge gaps and areas for further research. The research methodology section outlines the systematic approach employed in data collection, sampling methods, and analysis techniques utilized to assess the impact of plastic pollution.
