Abstract
The issue of development and food crisis in emerging economies, particularly in Nigeria, has attracted significant attention from researchers, policymakers, and international organizations. This research project aims to critically appraise the relationship between development and food crisis in Nigeria within the context of environmental science. Nigeria, as an emerging economy, faces numerous challenges related to food security and sustainable development. The country's population is rapidly growing, while agricultural productivity remains low due to factors such as poor infrastructure, limited access to modern farming techniques, and climate change impacts. These issues have contributed to food shortages, malnutrition, and poverty in many regions of Nigeria. By examining the complex interplay between development and food crisis in Nigeria, this research project seeks to identify key environmental factors that influence food production and availability in the country. It will analyze the role of climate change, land degradation, water scarcity, and biodiversity loss in exacerbating food insecurity and hindering sustainable development efforts. Furthermore, the project will assess the effectiveness of existing policies and interventions aimed at addressing food crisis in Nigeria. This will involve a critical review of government initiatives, international aid programs, and grassroots efforts to improve food security and promote sustainable agriculture practices. By evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of these interventions, the research aims to provide recommendations for enhancing food security and promoting sustainable development in Nigeria. Overall, this research project contributes to the existing literature on development and food crisis in emerging economies by focusing on the specific case of Nigeria.
