Abstract
Food crisis is a critical issue that affects many emerging economies, including Nigeria. This research project aims to provide a critical appraisal of the development and food crisis situation in Nigeria. The study will examine various factors contributing to the food crisis in the country, such as population growth, climate change, inadequate infrastructure, and economic instability. By analyzing the current state of food security in Nigeria, this research intends to identify key challenges and potential solutions to address the food crisis. Furthermore, the project will explore the role of government policies and interventions in mitigating food insecurity in Nigeria. It will assess the effectiveness of existing agricultural programs, food distribution systems, and poverty alleviation initiatives in improving food access and nutrition outcomes for the population. Additionally, the study will investigate the impact of globalization and trade policies on the Nigerian food economy, particularly in relation to food production, distribution, and pricing. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis with qualitative assessments through interviews and surveys with key stakeholders, including government officials, farmers, food producers, and consumers. By gathering data from multiple sources, this study seeks to provide a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the development challenges and food crisis dynamics in Nigeria. Overall, this research project aims to contribute valuable insights to the ongoing discourse on food security and economic development in emerging economies like Nigeria. By critically appraising the factors influencing the food crisis in the country and evaluating the effectiveness of current strategies and policies, this study seeks to inform evidence-based recommendations for sustainable solutions to improve food security, reduce poverty, and promote economic development in Nigeria.
