Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of postcolonial theory on contemporary African literature. The study explores how postcolonial theory has shaped and influenced the literary works of African writers in the post-independence era. The research delves into the historical background of colonialism in Africa and the subsequent emergence of postcolonial theory as a critical framework for analyzing and interpreting literature from formerly colonized regions. Through a comprehensive literature review, the thesis examines key concepts and themes in postcolonial theory such as cultural identity, hybridity, mimicry, and resistance, and their manifestation in African literary texts.
