This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. Social media has become an integral part of daily life, especially for young people. The influence of social media on mental health has been a subject of growing concern due to the widespread use of platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat among adolescents. This study will explore the various ways in which social media can both positively and negatively affect the mental well-being of teenagers. The research will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with adolescents to gather comprehensive data on their social media usage patterns and the perceived impact on their mental health. By examining factors such as the amount of time spent on social media, the types of content consumed, and the interactions with peers online, this study aims to provide insights into the specific aspects of social media that contribute to mental health outcomes in adolescents. Furthermore, the research will also investigate the coping mechanisms employed by adolescents to deal with any negative effects of social media on their mental health. By identifying healthy strategies that young people use to mitigate the potential harms of social media, this study seeks to offer practical recommendations for parents, educators, and mental health professionals to support adolescents in navigating the digital landscape more effectively. The findings of this research project are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the relationship between social media use and mental health in adolescents. By shedding light on the complex dynamics at play in the online lives of teenagers, this study seeks to inform policies and interventions aimed at promoting positive mental health outcomes among young people in the digital age.
