Abstract
The research project focuses on the impact of social media on mental health among teenagers. In recent years, social media platforms have become integral parts of adolescents' lives, influencing their behaviors, emotions, and mental well-being. This study aims to investigate the correlation between social media usage and mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem among teenagers. Through a comprehensive literature review, this research examines existing studies and theories related to the subject matter. It analyzes how excessive use of social media can lead to negative psychological outcomes for teenagers. The study also explores the role of cyberbullying and social comparison in exacerbating mental health problems among adolescents. Furthermore, this project employs a mixed-methods research design to gather both quantitative and qualitative data on teenagers' social media habits and their mental health status. Surveys will be distributed to a sample of teenagers to collect information on their social media usage patterns, while interviews and focus groups will provide in-depth insights into their experiences and perceptions. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to the understanding of the complex relationship between social media and mental health among teenagers. By identifying the potential risks associated with excessive social media consumption, this study aims to raise awareness among parents, educators, and mental health professionals about the need for responsible social media usage among adolescents. Moreover, the results of this research can inform the development of interventions and guidelines to promote positive online behaviors and protect teenagers from the adverse effects of social media on their mental well-being. By fostering a healthier digital environment for young people, this study seeks to enhance their overall mental health and quality of life. In conclusion, this research project addresses a critical issue in today's digital age by examining the impact of social media on teenagers' mental health. By shedding light on the potential risks and benefits of social media use, this study aims to empower individuals and communities to make informed decisions about their online activities and support the well-being of the younger generation in the digital era.
