Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. In recent years, the use of social media platforms has become increasingly prevalent among young people, with a particular focus on adolescents. There is growing concern about the potential negative effects of excessive social media use on mental health, including increased rates of anxiety, depression, and loneliness. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data on adolescents' social media usage patterns and their corresponding mental health outcomes. The quantitative surveys will assess the frequency and duration of social media use, types of platforms used, and self-reported mental health symptoms. The qualitative interviews will provide in-depth insights into the subjective experiences and perceptions of adolescents regarding the impact of social media on their mental well-being. Through the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data, the research aims to identify potential correlations between social media use and mental health outcomes among adolescents. By exploring the underlying mechanisms and factors that contribute to these relationships, the study seeks to provide a nuanced understanding of how social media influences the mental health of young individuals. The findings of this research project are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the effects of social media on mental health, particularly among adolescents.
