Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. Social media platforms have become an integral part of young people's lives, with the potential to influence their mental well-being. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data. The quantitative aspect will involve administering surveys to a large sample of adolescents to assess their social media usage patterns, mental health status, and any correlations between the two variables. Statistical analysis will be conducted to identify trends and associations, providing insights into the overall relationship between social media usage and mental health outcomes. In addition to the surveys, qualitative interviews will be conducted with a smaller group of participants to delve deeper into their experiences with social media and mental health. These interviews will allow for a more nuanced understanding of the mechanisms through which social media may impact mental well-being, as well as any coping strategies employed by adolescents. The research project aims to contribute to the existing body of literature on social media and mental health by providing empirical evidence on the specific effects of social media use on adolescents.
