Abstract
The study aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among young adults. The research will focus on exploring how the use of various social media platforms influences the psychological well-being of individuals aged between 18 and 30 years. The study will employ both quantitative and qualitative research methods to gather data from a sample of young adults. Quantitatively, a survey will be conducted to collect information on social media usage patterns, mental health symptoms, and overall life satisfaction. The survey will include standardized scales such as the Social Media Intensity Scale, the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, and the Satisfaction with Life Scale. The data collected will be analyzed using statistical techniques to identify any correlations between social media use and mental health indicators. Qualitatively, in-depth interviews will be conducted with selected participants to gain a deeper understanding of how social media impacts their mental health. The interviews will explore themes such as social comparison, fear of missing out, cyberbullying, and emotional well-being. Thematic analysis will be used to analyze the interview data and identify common patterns and experiences related to social media use and mental health. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of literature on social media and mental health by providing insights into the specific ways in which social media affects young adults' psychological well-being. Understanding these effects is crucial in developing strategies to promote positive mental health outcomes in the digital age. The study may also have implications for mental health professionals, educators, policymakers, and social media companies in terms of designing interventions and guidelines to support the mental health of young adults in the context of social media use.
