This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. With the increasing prevalence of social media use among young people, concerns have been raised about the potential negative effects on mental well-being. The study will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to explore the relationship between social media usage patterns and mental health outcomes in adolescents. The quantitative component will involve administering validated questionnaires to a sample of adolescents to assess their social media habits and mental health status. Factors such as frequency of social media use, types of platforms used, and self-reported mental health symptoms will be examined to identify any correlations. In parallel, qualitative interviews will be conducted with a subset of participants to gain deeper insights into the subjective experiences and perceptions related to social media and mental health. The qualitative data will provide a nuanced understanding of how social media influences adolescents' self-esteem, body image, relationships, and overall psychological well-being. The findings from this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the complex interplay between social media and mental health in adolescents. By examining both quantitative and qualitative data, this research aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the potential risks and benefits associated with social media use among young people.
