Abstract
This research project focuses on examining the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. In recent years, social media has become an integral part of adolescent life, with platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook being widely used for communication and social interaction. However, concerns have been raised about the potential negative effects of excessive social media use on mental health. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to provide a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between social media and mental health. The quantitative component involves surveying a large sample of adolescents to assess their social media usage patterns and mental health status. Additionally, the qualitative interviews aim to explore in-depth the experiences and perceptions of adolescents regarding the impact of social media on their mental well-being. The findings of this research project are expected to contribute to the existing literature by shedding light on the complex interplay between social media and mental health among adolescents. By identifying both the positive and negative aspects of social media use, this study aims to provide insights that can inform interventions and strategies to promote healthy social media habits and better mental health outcomes. Overall, this research project aims to address a gap in the current literature by offering a nuanced understanding of how social media influences the mental health of adolescents. By examining the issue from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives, this study seeks to provide a holistic view of the topic and offer practical recommendations for parents, educators, and mental health professionals working with adolescents in the digital age.
