Abstract
The current research project aims to investigate the impact of social media usage on mental health among young adults. In recent years, the prevalence of social media platforms has significantly increased, with a large portion of the population, especially young adults, actively engaging in various social media activities. While social media offers numerous benefits, including enhanced connectivity and social interaction, there is growing concern about its potential negative effects on mental health. The study will utilize a mixed-methods approach to explore the relationship between social media usage patterns and mental health outcomes. Quantitative data will be collected through surveys to assess the frequency and duration of social media use, as well as self-reported mental health indicators such as stress, anxiety, and depression levels. Additionally, qualitative data will be gathered through in-depth interviews to gain a deeper understanding of the subjective experiences and perceptions of young adults regarding social media and mental health. The research will involve a sample of young adults aged 18-30 years, drawn from diverse backgrounds and social media usage patterns. By examining both quantitative and qualitative data, the study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the complex interplay between social media usage and mental health outcomes. The findings will contribute to the existing literature by shedding light on the potential risks and protective factors associated with social media use among young adults. The results of this research project are expected to have implications for mental health interventions and social media policies targeted at young adults. By identifying the factors that influence the relationship between social media use and mental health, this study seeks to inform the development of strategies to promote healthy social media behaviors and mitigate the negative impact on mental well-being. Ultimately, the goal of this research is to enhance our understanding of the role of social media in shaping mental health outcomes among young adults and to facilitate the design of evidence-based interventions to support their well-being in the digital age.
