Thesis Abstract

This project aims to analyze the portrayal of women in William Shakespeare's plays, focusing on the diverse and complex representations of female characters. By examining a selection of Shakespeare's works, this study seeks to explore the roles, agency, and societal constraints placed upon women in Elizabethan England as depicted in the playwright's oeuvre. Through a feminist literary lens, this research will delve into the multifaceted nature of Shakespeare's female characters and their significance in the context of gender dynamics and power structures of the time.
