Abstract
This research project aims to explore the impact of social media on mental health among teenagers. Social media has become an integral part of daily life for many individuals, especially teenagers who are heavy users of platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok. The project will investigate how the use of social media can influence mental health outcomes such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and body image issues. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data on teenagers' social media usage and its effects on their mental well-being. By examining both the frequency and nature of social media interactions, as well as individuals' perceptions of these interactions, the research aims to provide a nuanced understanding of the relationship between social media and mental health. The project will also explore potential moderators and mediators of this relationship, including factors such as social support, cyberbullying, and comparison with others on social media.
