Abstract
The research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. Social media has become an integral part of daily life for many young individuals, with platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat being widely used for communication and self-expression. However, there is growing concern about the potential negative effects of excessive social media use on mental well-being, particularly among adolescents who are in a critical stage of development. This study will utilize a mixed-methods approach to explore the relationship between social media usage and mental health outcomes among adolescents. Quantitative surveys will be used to assess the frequency and duration of social media use, as well as self-reported measures of mental health symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and stress. Qualitative interviews will also be conducted to gain deeper insights into the ways in which social media may influence the mental well-being of adolescents. The research will focus on several key areas, including the impact of social media on self-esteem, body image, peer relationships, and overall psychological well-being. By examining these factors, the study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how social media may contribute to mental health issues among adolescents. The findings of this research will have important implications for mental health professionals, educators, parents, and policymakers who are concerned about the well-being of young individuals in the digital age. Through this research project, we hope to contribute to the existing literature on social media and mental health by providing empirical evidence on the potential risks and benefits of social media use among adolescents. By gaining a better understanding of these issues, we can develop more effective strategies for promoting positive mental health outcomes in this vulnerable population. Ultimately, the goal of this research is to inform interventions and policies that can help mitigate the negative impact of social media on the mental well-being of adolescents and promote healthy digital habits for future generations.
