Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media usage on mental health among adolescents. With the widespread adoption of social media platforms among young people, concerns have been raised regarding the potential negative effects on mental well-being. The study will explore how various aspects of social media, such as time spent online, types of content consumed, and interaction patterns, influence the mental health of adolescents. The research will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from a sample of adolescents aged 13-18. The surveys will assess social media usage patterns, mental health indicators, and perceived effects on well-being. The qualitative interviews will provide more in-depth insights into the experiences and perspectives of the participants. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the relationship between social media and mental health in adolescents. By identifying specific factors that may impact mental well-being, this research aims to provide valuable information for parents, educators, and mental health professionals working with young people. The results may also inform the development of interventions or guidelines to promote healthy social media use among adolescents.
