This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among teenagers. The use of social media has become pervasive among adolescents, with platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook being integral parts of their daily lives. The potential influence of social media on mental well-being has garnered significant attention in recent years, with concerns raised about its effects on issues such as self-esteem, body image, and overall psychological health. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Quantitative surveys will be distributed to a sample of teenagers to assess their social media usage patterns, mental health status, and self-perception. In addition, qualitative interviews will be conducted with a subset of participants to delve deeper into their experiences and perceptions regarding social media and mental health. The research will explore various aspects of social media use, including the amount of time spent on different platforms, the types of content consumed, and the interactions with peers and influencers. By examining these factors in relation to mental health indicators such as stress, anxiety, and depression, the study aims to identify potential correlations and trends that may exist. Furthermore, the qualitative component of the research will provide valuable insights into the nuanced ways in which social media can impact teenagers' mental health.
