Abstract
This research project focuses on exploring the impact of social media on mental health among young adults. Social media has become an integral part of daily life for many individuals, especially the younger generation. The study aims to investigate how the use of platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat affects the mental well-being of young adults. The research will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data. The quantitative surveys will assess the frequency and duration of social media use among participants, as well as their self-reported levels of anxiety, depression, and overall mental health. On the other hand, qualitative interviews will delve deeper into the experiences and perceptions of young adults regarding social media and its influence on their mental health. The participants in this study will be recruited from various backgrounds and demographics to ensure a diverse representation. By analyzing the data collected from both the surveys and interviews, the research aims to identify patterns and correlations between social media usage and mental health outcomes among young adults. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the subject and provide valuable insights for mental health professionals, educators, and policymakers. Understanding the impact of social media on mental health is crucial in developing effective strategies to promote well-being and address potential negative consequences associated with excessive or harmful use of these platforms. Overall, this research project seeks to shed light on the complex relationship between social media and mental health among young adults. By examining both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of this issue, the study aims to offer a more nuanced understanding of how social media influences the psychological well-being of individuals in this age group.
