Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on economic growth in developing countries through a comparative analysis. The study aims to contribute to the existing body of knowledge by examining the relationship between FDI and economic growth in different developing countries. By conducting a comparative analysis, this research seeks to identify the varying effects of FDI on economic growth in diverse developing country contexts. The research methodology employed in this study includes a comprehensive literature review of existing studies on FDI and economic growth, as well as an in-depth analysis of relevant data and statistical techniques. The study focuses on ten developing countries, selected based on their varying levels of FDI inflows and economic growth performance. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definitions of key terms. Chapter Two consists of a detailed literature review that examines the theoretical and empirical literature on the relationship between FDI and economic growth in developing countries. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and statistical analysis procedures. The chapter also discusses the variables and indicators used to measure FDI and economic growth in the selected developing countries. Chapter Four presents the findings of the comparative analysis, highlighting the impact of FDI on economic growth in each of the ten developing countries. The chapter discusses the varying effects of FDI on economic growth, considering factors such as the level of FDI inflows, sectoral distribution, technology transfer, and institutional quality. Chapter Five offers a conclusion and summary of the thesis, discussing the key findings, implications, and recommendations for policymakers, investors, and future research.
