Abstract
This thesis examines the impact of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on economic growth in developing countries. FDI has been a crucial component of global economic development, with many developing countries relying on foreign investment to stimulate their economies and drive growth. The study seeks to analyze the relationship between FDI inflows and economic growth in developing countries, considering various factors that influence this relationship. The research methodology involves a comprehensive literature review to examine existing studies on FDI and economic growth. The study also employs statistical analysis to investigate the impact of FDI on key economic indicators such as GDP growth, employment rates, and poverty levels in developing countries. The research methodology includes data collection from various sources, including World Bank reports, academic journals, and national economic databases. The findings of the study reveal a mixed relationship between FDI inflows and economic growth in developing countries. While FDI has the potential to stimulate economic growth through increased capital investment, technology transfer, and job creation, the benefits may not always trickle down to the broader population. Issues such as income inequality, resource dependency, and weak institutional frameworks can hinder the positive impact of FDI on economic growth. The study also highlights the importance of policy interventions to maximize the benefits of FDI for economic development in developing countries. Governments need to implement effective regulatory frameworks, investment incentives, and infrastructure development to attract and retain foreign investors. Additionally, measures to enhance human capital development and promote local entrepreneurship can help leverage FDI for sustainable economic growth. In conclusion, the study underscores the complex nature of the relationship between FDI and economic growth in developing countries. While FDI can be a catalyst for economic development, it is essential to address the challenges and limitations associated with foreign investment to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth.
