Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. With the increasing use of social media platforms by young individuals, concerns have been raised regarding the potential negative effects on mental well-being. The study will explore how various aspects of social media usage, such as time spent online, types of interactions, and comparison behaviors, may influence mental health outcomes. A mixed-methods approach will be employed, combining quantitative surveys to gather data on social media usage patterns and mental health indicators, as well as qualitative interviews to gain deeper insights into the subjective experiences of adolescents. The research will also examine the role of underlying factors such as self-esteem, body image, and social support in moderating the relationship between social media use and mental health. By shedding light on these complex interactions, the findings from this study can inform interventions and strategies to promote positive mental health outcomes for adolescents in the digital age.
