This research project explores the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. Social media has become an integral part of daily life for many adolescents, with platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok being popular among this age group. While social media offers numerous benefits, including enhanced communication and connection with peers, it also poses risks to mental health. The project aims to investigate the relationship between social media usage and mental health outcomes, including depression, anxiety, and self-esteem among adolescents. The study will utilize a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather data from adolescents aged 13-18. The quantitative component will involve administering standardized questionnaires to assess social media usage patterns and mental health symptoms. The qualitative component will involve in-depth interviews with a subset of participants to explore their experiences and perceptions of social media's impact on their mental well-being. The findings of this research project will contribute to the existing literature on social media and mental health by providing insights into how adolescents perceive and experience social media in relation to their mental well-being. The results will have implications for parents, educators, and mental health professionals working with adolescents, informing strategies for promoting healthy social media use and supporting mental health among young people. Overall, this research project aims to shed light on the complex interplay between social media and mental health among adolescents.
