Abstract
The research project aimed to investigate the impact of social media usage on mental health among college students. A sample of 500 college students was surveyed to gather data on their social media habits and mental health status. The results indicated a significant relationship between social media usage and mental health outcomes. Specifically, higher levels of social media use were associated with increased feelings of anxiety, depression, and loneliness among the participants. Additionally, the study found that certain social media platforms, such as Instagram and Snapchat, were more likely to contribute to negative mental health effects compared to others like Facebook or Twitter. The findings suggest that college students need to be mindful of their social media usage and its potential impact on their mental well-being. The research highlights the importance of promoting healthy social media habits and the need for further investigation into this complex relationship.
