The research abstract is as follows This study aims to investigate the impact of social media usage on mental health among young adults. Social media has become an integral part of daily life for many individuals, particularly young adults. While social media platforms offer various benefits such as connectivity, information sharing, and entertainment, there is growing concern about the potential negative effects on mental health. This study will explore how different aspects of social media use, including time spent, content consumed, and interactions with others, may influence mental health outcomes. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to provide a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between social media use and mental health. A sample of young adults aged 18-25 will be recruited to participate in the study. Participants will be asked to complete a survey assessing their social media usage patterns, mental health status, and perceived impact of social media on their well-being. Additionally, a subset of participants will be selected for in-depth interviews to explore their experiences in more detail. The quantitative analysis will involve examining the correlations between different social media usage variables and mental health indicators. Factors such as frequency of use, types of platforms used, and emotional responses to social media content will be assessed. The qualitative analysis will focus on identifying common themes and patterns in participants' narratives regarding the effects of social media on their mental health. The findings of this study are expected to provide valuable insights into the complex relationship between social media usage and mental health among young adults. By exploring both quantitative and qualitative data, this research aims to offer a nuanced understanding of how social media can impact individuals' well-being. The results may have implications for mental health interventions and social media policies aimed at promoting healthier online behaviors.
