Abstract
This research project explores the impact of social media on mental health among teenagers. The study aims to investigate how the use of social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat affects the mental well-being of adolescents. The research will employ both quantitative and qualitative research methods to gather data from a sample of teenagers aged 13 to 18 years old. The quantitative aspect of the study will involve surveying a large sample of teenagers to gather information on their social media usage patterns, the types of content they are exposed to, and any mental health issues they may be experiencing. Statistical analysis will be used to identify correlations between social media usage and mental health indicators such as anxiety, depression, and self-esteem. In addition to the quantitative data, the research will also include in-depth interviews with a smaller group of teenagers to gain insights into their personal experiences with social media and how it influences their mental health. These qualitative interviews will provide a deeper understanding of the mechanisms through which social media impacts the psychological well-being of adolescents. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing body of research on the relationship between social media and mental health. By exploring the experiences of teenagers themselves, the research will provide valuable insights into the specific ways in which social media can either support or undermine mental well-being in this age group.
