Abstract
The research project aims to explore the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. The study will investigate how social media usage affects the psychological well-being of teenagers, focusing on factors such as self-esteem, body image, anxiety, and depression. A mixed-methods approach will be utilized, combining both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data on the subject. The quantitative aspect of the research will involve administering surveys to a large sample of adolescents to measure their social media usage patterns and mental health status. Various standardized scales and questionnaires will be utilized to assess different aspects of mental health, such as self-esteem levels, body image satisfaction, and symptoms of anxiety and depression. Statistical analysis will be conducted to identify any correlations between social media usage and mental health indicators. In addition to the surveys, qualitative interviews will be conducted with a smaller group of adolescents to gain deeper insights into their experiences with social media and mental health. These interviews will explore the ways in which social media impacts their self-perception, relationships, and overall well-being. Thematic analysis will be used to identify common themes and patterns in the qualitative data, providing a rich understanding of the subjective experiences of the participants. The findings of this research project are expected to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on the relationship between social media and mental health in adolescents. By examining both quantitative and qualitative data, the study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how social media influences various aspects of mental well-being among teenagers. The results may have implications for mental health interventions and policies targeting adolescent populations, helping to design more effective strategies to promote positive mental health in the digital age.
