Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. The study will explore how the use of various social media platforms affects the psychological well-being of teenagers. The research will focus on examining factors such as social media addiction, cyberbullying, self-esteem issues, and comparison behaviors that contribute to negative mental health outcomes in adolescents. The methodology for this study will involve both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Surveys will be administered to a sample of adolescents to gather data on their social media usage patterns, mental health status, and perceptions of how social media influences their well-being. Additionally, in-depth interviews will be conducted with a subset of participants to gain a deeper understanding of their experiences and perspectives. The findings of this research project are expected to provide valuable insights into the relationship between social media use and mental health outcomes in adolescents. By identifying the specific ways in which social media can impact teenagers' mental well-being, this study aims to inform strategies and interventions that can help mitigate the negative effects of social media on mental health. The results of this research have the potential to contribute to the development of guidelines for healthy social media use among adolescents and to raise awareness about the importance of promoting positive online behaviors. Overall, this study seeks to address a gap in the existing literature by examining the nuanced ways in which social media can influence mental health outcomes in adolescents. By exploring the various factors that contribute to both positive and negative experiences on social media platforms, this research project aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the complex relationship between social media use and mental well-being among teenagers. Ultimately, the goal of this study is to contribute to the ongoing discussions surrounding the impact of social media on adolescent mental health and to provide evidence-based recommendations for supporting the psychological well-being of young people in the digital age.
