Abstract
This research project focuses on examining the impact of social media on mental health among adolescents. With the increasing use of social media platforms by teenagers, concerns have been raised about the potential negative effects on their psychological well-being. The study utilizes a mixed-methods approach to investigate both the quantitative data on social media usage patterns and mental health indicators, as well as qualitative insights from interviews with adolescents. The quantitative analysis involves surveying a sample of adolescents to gather information on their social media habits, the time spent on different platforms, the type of content consumed, and self-reported mental health symptoms. This data will be statistically analyzed to identify any correlations between social media use and mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and self-esteem. In addition to the quantitative data, qualitative interviews will be conducted with a smaller group of adolescents to explore their experiences with social media and how it may impact their mental health. These interviews will provide valuable insights into the emotional and psychological effects of social media use, as well as potential coping strategies that adolescents employ. The findings from both the quantitative and qualitative analyses will be compared to draw comprehensive conclusions about the relationship between social media and mental health among adolescents.
