Abstract
This research project aims to investigate the impact of social media on mental health among young adults. Social media platforms have become an integral part of daily life for many individuals, especially young adults. While these platforms offer various benefits, such as connecting people globally and providing a space for self-expression, there is growing concern about the negative effects they may have on mental health. The study will explore how the use of social media influences mental health outcomes, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and body image issues among young adults. It will examine the relationship between social media usage patterns, such as frequency of use, type of content consumed, and levels of engagement, and their impact on mental well-being. Through a mixed-methods approach, including surveys and interviews, the research will gather data from a sample of young adults to gain insights into their social media habits and their perceptions of how these habits affect their mental health. By analyzing the collected data, the study aims to identify potential risk factors associated with social media use and their implications for mental health. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to a better understanding of the complex relationship between social media and mental health outcomes among young adults. The results will provide valuable insights for mental health professionals, policymakers, and social media companies to develop strategies and interventions to promote positive mental health in the digital age.
