The utilization of text messaging has become prevalent among college students, significantly influencing their language use and communication skills. This thesis explores the impact of text messaging on language and communication skills among college students, focusing on the changes in language patterns, communication styles, and overall linguistic development. Through a comprehensive literature review, this study examines the existing research on text messaging and its effects on language use, as well as the implications for communication skills development. The research methodology employed in this study includes a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection methods to gather insights from college students regarding their text messaging habits and perceptions of its impact on their language and communication skills. Through surveys, interviews, and linguistic analysis, the study aims to provide a holistic understanding of how text messaging influences language use and communication patterns among college students. The findings of this study reveal a nuanced relationship between text messaging and language development among college students.
