Abstract
Co-operative enterprises have emerged as a vital force in driving sustainable development goals across various sectors. This thesis aims to assess the impact of co-operative enterprises on sustainable development goals, focusing on their role in fostering economic, social, and environmental sustainability. The study delves into the unique characteristics of co-operative enterprises, such as their democratic governance structure, member ownership, and commitment to community development, that differentiate them from traditional business models. The research begins with a comprehensive literature review that examines existing studies on co-operative enterprises and sustainable development goals, highlighting the positive contributions of co-operatives in promoting inclusive growth, poverty reduction, and environmental conservation. The review also identifies gaps in the literature, paving the way for a more in-depth analysis in this thesis. Methodologically, this study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. Surveys and interviews with key stakeholders in co-operative enterprises and relevant government agencies are conducted to gather insights into the mechanisms through which co-operatives contribute to sustainable development.
