Co-operatives play a vital role in fostering economic development within rural communities by promoting collective action, resource sharing, and sustainable business practices. This thesis explores the impact of co-operative enterprise formation on economic development in rural communities. The study aims to investigate how the establishment of co-operatives influences various aspects of economic development, such as income generation, employment creation, access to markets, and community empowerment. Chapter One provides an introduction to the topic, highlighting the background of the study, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, structure of the thesis, and definition of key terms. Chapter Two presents a comprehensive literature review, examining existing research on co-operative economics, rural development, and the role of co-operatives in promoting economic growth. Chapter Three outlines the research methodology, including the research design, data collection methods, sampling techniques, and data analysis procedures. It also discusses ethical considerations and limitations of the study. Chapter Four presents the findings of the research, analyzing the impact of co-operative enterprise formation on economic development in rural communities based on empirical data and case studies.
