Abstract
This thesis investigates the impact of co-operative financing models on economic development in rural communities. Co-operatives have long been recognized as effective mechanisms for promoting economic growth and fostering community development, particularly in rural areas where access to traditional financial institutions may be limited. The study aims to analyze the various financing models utilized by co-operatives and assess their effectiveness in stimulating economic development within rural communities. The research is guided by a comprehensive literature review that examines existing studies on co-operative financing models, economic development, and rural communities. The methodology involves a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of financial data from co-operatives with qualitative interviews and surveys to gather insights from stakeholders involved in co-operative financing and economic development initiatives. Chapter One provides an introduction to the research topic, presenting the background, problem statement, objectives, limitations, scope, significance, and structure of the thesis. Chapter Two is a literature review that delves into ten key areas related to co-operative financing models, economic development, and rural communities.
