Abstract
This thesis examines the impact of co-operative enterprises on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing countries. Co-operatives have long been recognized as a key driver of economic and social development, particularly in regions where traditional market mechanisms may be inadequate. However, there is a need for a comprehensive assessment of the specific contributions of co-operatives towards achieving the SDGs in developing countries. This research aims to fill this gap by analyzing the role of co-operatives in promoting sustainable development across various sectors such as agriculture, finance, and social services. The study begins with an exploration of the theoretical framework underpinning co-operative enterprises and their potential to advance the SDGs. Drawing on existing literature, the research provides a critical review of the current state of knowledge on the topic, highlighting the key challenges and opportunities faced by co-operatives in developing countries. The literature review also identifies gaps in the literature that the present study seeks to address. Methodologically, this research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis with qualitative case studies to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of co-operatives on sustainable development. The research methodology section outlines the data collection methods, sampling techniques, and analytical tools employed in the study.
