Thesis Abstract

Abstract
The construction of panel doors involves a multi-step process that combines traditional woodworking techniques with modern tools and materials to create a sturdy and visually appealing final product. This research project explores the various stages involved in constructing a panel door, from selecting the appropriate materials to assembling the door and applying the finishing touches. The initial phase of the project focuses on choosing the right type of wood for the door panels and frame. Factors such as durability, grain pattern, and cost are considered when selecting the wood to ensure that the door will be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Once the materials are chosen, the wood is carefully cut and shaped to create the individual panels that will be assembled to form the door. Joinery techniques play a crucial role in the construction of panel doors, as they determine the strength and longevity of the final product. Mortise and tenon joints are commonly used to join the stiles and rails of the door frame, providing a secure connection that can withstand the rigors of everyday use. Additionally, the panels are inserted into grooves in the frame to allow for expansion and contraction of the wood with changes in humidity. After the individual components are constructed, the door is assembled using glue and clamps to ensure a tight fit between the joints. Once the door is fully assembled, any excess glue is removed, and the surface is sanded smooth to prepare it for finishing. Wooden panel is said to be the best pattern of door because it is easy and low cost of constructing. The project was constructed using a very hard and some other important machines and hand tools and accurate measurement was made to ensure a good and a proper finishing of a panel door.
